WOW! I really try to keep my favorites to a minimum but you sure make it impossible along with some others on here. This is on my desktop and is perfect for my pleasure. Gorgeous color and contrast. Thank you AGAIN!

I love the richness of the colors, but the background is a little grainy. I posted a topic in forums about a program that removes noise Simon. I have found it very useful in this situation. It is called Neat Image and is a free download...works great! Great capture:-)

Good composition and color, Simon! I like it a lot, even if the background is a bit grainy. But as Darryl says, you can always fix that!

I can now Darryl's pointed me in the right direction, Susan. It's too late for this one, but I'll certainly be using the download in future. My thanks to you both :-)

It's no wonder why you are one of my favourite photographers here... ;) This is a top of the line, state of the art flower shot. I just love the clarity of the shot, those water drops are amazing! My only grief is that you rarely post 1600x1200 images. ^_^ But that's a small thing really. I enjoy looking at your work none the less. :)

I don't agree about the grainy background having to be fixed. It works out nicely for me. Reminds me of an analogue film with 400 ISO grainyness. (I'm afraid my english technical terms might be wrong... ^_^) Sure it's an artefact but what do you call the grains on analogue film? Photos that are made too perfect are sometimes less interesting than they could be. (That's what my wife tells me when I'm going berserk with my editing at least. ^_^)

Thank you, Klas, I really appreciate the compliment.

I'll have to see what I can do about image size - 1600x1200 doesn't give much scope for cropping from a 3.2Mp original, and with macros in particular I often need to crop quite heavily.

That's an good point about grain. I agree it adds interest and atmosphere to some pictures, but it detracts from others. I suppose the trick is in knowing when to use grain reduction, the same as with the rest of our tools. It's our judgement in these matters that allows photography to claim its place as an art.
