For those who liked "Strata" (which was really veins), some real strata. Movement of the earth's crust has tipped these layers on edge, so you can walk back through history. Maer Cliffs, Bude, 28th November '04

I remember learning about faults and things like this is science a couple of years ago... this is very kool, i like how the the water seeps off real slow to the ground. Great shot Simon.

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile. Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.

Sooo... who's fault is it? ;-) Sorry, I'm a sucker whenever there's a horrible pun that's just waiting to be said ;-) Beautiful shot.. where is Bude at? is it somewhere in South America? Thanks for sharing this beautiful shot :)

Thank you all :-) Bude is actually in Cornwall, south-west UK - turn right here and walk a few hundred yards and you'd be on one of the many popular surfing beaches along the north Cornish coast.

A lot of the folks who figured out how to understand geological history lived and worked in the UK. Now I understand why.

Oh. What a striking image. I get to see lots of cliffs, but they're usually not tilted the way this one is. Very neat.

Thank you all. I'm told there's a beach a mile or two south of here where the folding is much more pronounced and the strata zig-zag their way down the cliff face. I'll look out for that one for you :-)

Thats almost frightening. To think how those rocks must have pushed right thru long ago..and left all that for us to ponder on...good photo...makes one think and appreciate.
