Christmas morning at Par beach pond. The swans here are "wild", but tame enough to eat out of your hand - if you've remembered to bring any food for them. Even if you haven't they let you get nice and close for a photo :-)
I've had pretty bad experiences with swans in the past but I'm willing to overlook that an really enjoy the beauty of the swan. Very nice capture how on earth did you get sooo close, regardless of food swans aren't usually very friendly!! ^_^
Thank you, Klas, Mary-Katherine, and Susan :-) The zoom lens makes it look closer than it was - I like swans but also respect them and wouldn't risk upsetting one just for a photo... ;-)
Happy Holidays Simon. Beautiful capture. I'm always fascinated when a photographer can show trust with it's subject not normally captured. I call it the "Dr. Doolittle" gift. ;)
i had had an unpleasant experience with one swan when i was a little girl.. i was feeding one and it bit my hand with its beak so hard that i ran away crying :) i'm not feeding any swans for the rest of my life.. :D
but.. they are truly magnificent animals.. they always look strikingly beautiful.. royal and proud.. absolutely gorgeous! and you presented swan's full beauty in this image.. an excellent close up! i must say, a very detailed and fabulous image! :)
i can't resist this one too... awww.. what the heck, favourites again :D
