Spotted this tree by a small river in North Yorkshire while out driving in April this year - like the way the roots seem to have their own agenda crawling towards the water.

This is lovely - Am wondering what it would look like as a poster on my wall -- MAYBE a wee bit lighter... but this is still a great shot!

Very nice work, Ray. You really are a "Gloomy Gus". It seems that most of your postings have been a bit on the bleak side. I'm wondering if you purposely made this shot dark to make it look even creepier or if it was really cloudy that day. Shades of light and dark are in the eye of the beholder. Not a criticism...just an observation. My personal preference would be a little lighter, but that's just me.

Really my only problem with the shot is the vertical mode. It suits the shot, and it's my problem. My monitor is perfect for viewing landscape mode shots. If I want to see this at full screen size, I have to download it, rotate the image and then get a sore neck looking at the shot or turn my monitor 90° and risk dropping it.

In this rare instance I would say that the shot doesn't benefit from a border. It's already too small because it's vertical. The border just makes it smaller. Anyway, that's my opinion at this very moment. I might stop back and edit my comments.

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Again Roger you're right - I do have a penchant for the dark side and I've deliberately gone darker with this shot.
