Sorry, Ray. I'll be honest (as always) and let you know that I don't care for this image as much as your previous shots. Photographically, I'm sure you took the same care to set this up. But the details that I love in your work are absent from this posting although it's not your fault. Some images are just more prone to be classics than others.
The wood doesn't excite me as much as the stone. The finely polished wood does not lend itself to the lovely textures in your photos of the stone works. Additionally the lighting in this scene is more what I would expect to find at a local supermarket rather than the subtle and subdued lighting in this shot. Finally it could be my new glasses, but the focus is not nearly as sharp as in your Rayesque postings. It could be that there is a layer of glass between you and the wood carving.
