Hey John ... caught this one of yours in the new images galleries. Now then ...
Just going to jump right in here ... hope you don't mind.
I really, really ... like the angular leading lines of the leaves guiding the viewers eyes to the blooms.
Colour is good throughout. Natural. Very much so.
Caveats? Compositionally, you have the prize for the eyes off to the left a tad too much. And somewhat high. Makes the image appear top heavy.
And given the nice colour contrasts available with the buds? ... or whatever they are called ... suggestion ... shift of camera position to the right and then looking left. If possible. Catch more of those colour contrasts would be the thing.
DOF. Pin sharpness on the foreground leaves. Open your aperature more so. For general picture-taking, when you want most of the picture to be in focus, you might want to set a middling aperture of around f/8 to f/11. So, adjust from there.
That said ... congrats on your experimentations. :o)
Looks like the new 'eye' is going to serve you well. You'll get there more than soon enough. Looking forward to it.
Thanks for this look and for sharing your efforts with us.
