Kuttanadu in Kerala, India, is the region with lowest altitude in India [with 500 square kilometres of the region below sea level].
Its elevation ranges from 0.6 m above to 2.2 metres below sea level.
Most of the area is covered with water throughout the year. Kuttanadu is one of the few places in the world where farming is carried out below sea level.

The Greater Kuttanad region spread across the districts of Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, and Kottayam. The Lower Kuttanad region itself has a population of 1.8 million and comes under the Alappuzha district.

Four major Kerala rivers, the Pampa, Meenachil, the Achankovil and the Manimala flow into Kuttanadu.

Post processing done to increase sharpness and added a bit more light.

Very interesting story, in fact I saw a TV show about that very subject where the land was underwater certain times of year and the kids go to school in a boat, I like the tall palms on the green grass and blue water.

A real beauty I must say. The trees and the land looks so sharp against the blue sky and that gives them a 3D effect.

What a most lovely photo of these Palm trees. I just adore how they look with the pretty colour of the sky and water. Such a flat part of the world, where I live we have so many mountains and Evergreen trees. Verena
