One of the most popular Japanese flowering cherry trees ‘Kanzan’ is loaded with blousy, pinkish purple, frilly, double flowers from March-April until its bronze foliage begins to unfurl. It makes a fantastic avenue tree and is equally as magnificent grown as a single specimen.
A medium sized tree with a spreading and ascending habit ‘Kanzan’ will grow to 6 x 4 meters in 20 years. It’s bronze new leaves turn to mid-green before developing into burnt-orange autumn colours.
Suited to most positions including polluted sites this Japanese cherry requires a spot that isn’t wet or in shallow chalky soil. A marvelous double pink flowering ornamental tree.
