Beautifully presented and photographed. Coincidently,I had to go to CT to take my mom to the ER and while I was there, I noticed a huge shapely tree with snow on it in the neighbors yard and took some pics of it. Here we are thinking along the same channels again, Carol! lol
Carol - Outstanding shot! The majestic tree in the snow-covered field set against the gray sky, with the creative edging makes a wonderful image. Kudos! Thad
Since I'm not a Caedes friend, I am not obligated to tell you "great shot". I just saw this in the VB and thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. This shot has the making of an 8 or 9. It's a beauty with real potential.
However, The funky border has destroyed much of the potential of this great opportunity. I would have cropped the oak pretty tight, but I never would have chopped off any of the limbs. The off-centered composition is nearly perfect, the bleak and barren background is right on the button, the snowy foreground is excellent and the sky creates a wonderfully themed posting. If you didn't have that border and had left some room on the left and top, this shot would have been a winner. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.
That's one magnificent tree presented in a spectacular way. Bravo! I think the border is a clever idea because it gives an impression of looking at the scene through a frost-edged window. And the white emphasizes the winterness of it all. Right, winterness is not a word - but it is now. I do think it would be even way better with the edging not obliterating any of the tree at top or at left.
