Many years ago I dug up part of my grandmothers peony bush and planted it in our yard after we built our home. We had moved it around, mowed it off and I don't know what else, but it always managed to come up, but never bloomed until this year. We have been in our home 44 years. I guess it really wanted to bloom for us. I could not resist taking a photo of the first bloom in all those years.

Its even a double colored one! An amazing story Carol. We had some here at our house but my hubby mowed them over the first summer here. They never did come back up! I was mad!...lol...Thats really something after 44 years! I bet you were shocked!

This is not just a bloom, it's history, Carol. And it's very pretty, too. Thanks for sharing, you should be proud, my friend.

Fantastic, Carol. It even showed you some of the blood it shed to persevere.I think it means you have to photograph it every day for the next 44 years :-).
Quite beautiful.
