I liked the way the trees came down to a point, guess that is why I stopped for this shot. A friend suggested using HDR once in awhile, so this is a try at it.

For a first try with HDR this is very good - the sky and the tree composition make for a good shot Carol.

Considerable tonal range in this gorgeous scene, Carol.If you used the Curves tool on the sky, you might drag it just a little bit less from the top. You probably already know just how sensitive that tool is, and just a fraction from the top corner should handle the clouds without darkening the sky very much.
