Beautiful work, Carol...I really like the sketchiness and whiteness...it gives the sense of the winter season and cold temperatures...well done!

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.
I have a soft spot for these types of images.. artistic illustrations.
(^ If interested.. just another technique to turn a photo into an illustration that works well and allows for some fine tuning/adjustments with the steps involved. It is for Photoshop, but, you should be able to work with whatever image editor you have.
And take note.. the first comment in the comment sections reiterates/breaks the steps down and actually corrects the article in one place.)
Thumbnail drew me in right away.. and being bold here.. I like the slighter suggestion of vignetting in this piece of yours Carol.
And your subject material is well-suited to the artistic treatment.
To my eyes.. the results look like India ink and watercolours.
