There was this little puddle in road and this mother and her little ones were in it. Couldn't resist, but don't know what it was. I didn't think it was a duck, maybe a goose- just don't know. It was interesting because it just stayed there. Didn't have to even get out of the car.

To me this is a careful Muscovy duck, giving the first swimming lesson to her 'kids', Carol. Mothers are always careful when it comes to her children, but this one is a bit exaggerated to opt for very shallow water, 😜 .

It has the marking of the Muscovy, Carol. I agree with the Owd Timer and SEA.
I've heard of "puddle jumpers," but these are "puddle swimmers."

It looks like some of the Muscovy ducks my neighbor out on the farm used to have. They look a bit like they were crossed with a turkey! Fine shot!

It is a lovely shot of this Muscovy family Carol.
They are ducks but are more like geese.
A strange thing about them is that they do not quack like a duck, they hiss.
So if it looks like a goose and waddles like a duck, hisses like a snake and has a face like a turkey it is probably a Muscovy LOL. We have a few of them living at the duck pond at our local gardens. They can be aggressive but apparently make good pets.
