I wonder what was once in the round center of this piece. One of my guesses would be a clock. There are twelve saws surrounding the center dish. My second guess is that this may have been a representation, artfully, of the sun with its sun rays cutting across our sky. And, lastly, maybe the artist was a carpenter and he thought twelve saws nailed on the wall was pretty cool. I think it is. So there! ;)

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
