Another barn that won't be around long. So many abandoned farms and buildings. Seems everything has gotten so big that there aren't many little farmers any more. So this is what we see much of. I like to bring back a bit of glory.

Carol, while I look at your very fine and characteristic barn photograph and read your narrative, THIS SONG comes into my mind.
Maybe this song tells a different story, but to me, as foreigner, it's remarkable that there are so many abandoned farms in your area. The, in your narrative given, explanation could be true.

Carol, As a barn lover myself I enjoy your pictures and editing, but am saddened by the fact that the true farmers are loosing ground. Well done once again. tigs=^..^=

True...The old-fashioned wooden barn is fast being replaced by the elongated steel barn, just as the once family farms are going corporate-owned... Slow end of an era...

Nice presentation, though...Faved

Really like the editing on this one Carol - the sky looks like an old oil painting!

Beautiful, sad, tells a lot of stories. I love the sky, too.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Yes, Carol, I think that if you visited rural North Dakota you would find many structures to which you could apply your skill set, albeit with less trees and hills than your native(?) Iowa. I have had the opportunity of traveling and visiting Iowa, from Cedar Rapids north to Decorah, and west, and find the landscape to be a lot more diverse than where I live. Here, these old graying structures are often situated alone, surrounded by empty fields or occasional lightly wooded ravines.
