I stayed after school for Pep Band and I was out side with someother guys playing basketball on our schools playground and I forgot out the lake in the pasture next to the school, so I went home and grabbed my camera and came back to get a picture. It was taking from the top of a slide :D Jake

Overall, this is MUCH better than the first one I critiqued. OK, here goes. Your depth of field breaks down about halfway to what appears to be a fence line. It's that focus problem and scope that really hurt this image. I would like to see a shot along the axis of the dam or whatever that is in the water. Also lessen the scope of your shot if you can. Don't try to put in too much scenery, specially when most of it is dead pasture grass. Those first trees and the dam? along with a little pasture would make for a better photograph! And remember, you don't have to center your main subject. The composition rules are found in "Other Stuff" under "Rules of Composition" in the Navigation section. Learn them or print them out and keep them with you. I'm sure your library has books on photography, read them and take notes You ARE doing better. You just need to tweak some things to become a good photographer. DON'T GET DOWN ON YOURSELF AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GIVE UP!!! I am adding you to my friends list. Don't hesitate to ask questions. There are too many good people on this net that would be glad to help! ( I would like to know the type of camera you are using.)

Hey Jake, this is a surprisingly busy shot for pasture grass! There are lots of good comments from Katman above but I think one thing that could help this photo in particular is that there could be more of the horizon and sky. Unsure of where I have read it, but generally the human eye likes to see landscape pictures in thirds. ie. if you want to focus on the pasture, include 1/3 sky, 2/3 pasture. If you want to focus on the sky (great light, good clouds etc) include 2/3 sky, 1/3 pasture.

cheers, Garth

Hmm I'd definitely like to see more in this photo-as in more sky, more landscape, just something other than a lot of dead grass. Nice framing though, and the hint of green in the distance is good.

I agree that you need to see more sky, but I do like how the angles of the water kind of lead your eye thru the photo.
