The Plymouth(Gurnet)Lighthouse was first established in 1768 by the Massachusetts legislature.In 1606 Champlain landed here and watched the Indians fishing for cod with fishhooks made of wood.It is a wooden structure that is 39 feet high and 102 feet above the sea.It has 700,000 candle power and can be seen for up to 16 miles.The lighthouse was automated in 1986 and is located on the 7 mile long peninsula that stretches through Duxbury and Plymouth.

Right you are Thad , there is quite allot of history with this lighthouse , too much to write here.There is a long stretch of the beach that leads out here which at low tide we are allowed to drive on , allot of fun too.

A beautiful picture Tom. I really like the lighthouse and the surrounding buildings. The only change I would have made it to mask out the shadow of that sign in the lower left.

I like this perspective showing the surroundings. Would love to explore this shoreline. I may need to adjust my monitor again, but seems just a tad bright. Seems shorter than some lighthouses I wonder if the location is the reason. Saved.
