Probably wishes it had brought its' surfboard. It's strange the way the ocean seems to be fairly calm until it hits the beach. Must be from a weather system far off the coast. Nice capture Tom. ...Ed
Beautiful clarity on those waves, Tom. I like the way they can sometimes look gold too and you have captured that here. Nice diagonal line on the shore.
Tom...with the "People" contest deadline approaching, I'm surprised you're not out there on your boogie board getting driven into the shore head first. I like the angle of this shot. Gives it an interesting perspective. But holy tomatoes...those skies come right from California where we didn't have a single cloud until last week after a six month drought. When I see a sky like this, I know what to look for -- noise. That's because all of my cloudless sky shots have been picked apart mercilessly by my Caedes "friends". I do see some noise but nothing compared to what I'm capable of producing. I'm sure this is sacrilege, but have you thought about dropping in a fake sky? Just a thought for which I will be burned at the stake.
Tom, I see that the 'maritime pigeon' is impressed by the beauty of the breakers as well, lol.
Have read Roger's comment above, but I have a different opinion about dropping in a fake sky in this situation. To me, sea and sky are in a good balance with each other now. See with my old seaman's eyes that they are very natural. Replaceing the sky by an impressive and/or dramatic one, also requires a proportional heavy sea.
I understand exactly what you mean Roger.I saw the noise in the sky and cropped it down hoping the wave would overpower it and that it might go unnoticed. Ya ,Right. In my defense however many of my photos are taken at times of day when there is noise in the sky.In fact as the sun got lower at this beach there was a misty purple hue in the sky that ruined some nice shots and I would not consider posting the for that reason.Same with so many of my lake or pond shots where there is much noise or graininess in the sky that becomes even more apparent with these digital images . This is something that I really want to work on with my camera settings. I use the manual mode 95 percent of the time and am trying different settings.Any suggestions ?..I appreciate your input !..Yes Cornelius , I do agree with you on your point too..Thanks..Tom.
Tom - This bird knows that the waves may leave an errant crab on the beach - easy pickings for lunch. I like the afternoon lighting giving the shadow of the bird and offering contrast for the crashing wave. Thad
