There are many cranberry bogs in my area , this one is in Carver Ma. They are most always next to a reservoir , either man made or a pond that is used to flood the bogs. A machine is used to break the cranberries loose so that they float on the water and can be loaded on trucks for processing. Some of these may be on your holiday dinner table.

There are a few in Wisconsin also, never seen one as grand as this one though. This one is huge. Great capture.

Whenever I see photos of this process.. boggles my pea brain. Simply put, looks weird.

Not your photo there, though.. the process? Yes.

Thanks for sharing this rather unique way of putting food onto our tables, Tom.

You've managed to capture a well-composed shot in and amongst all this 'weirdness' (according to me).

Now, this is something you don't see every day! Actually, I've never seen a cranberry bog. I'll have to research a little more on this interesting topic. Great photo, as well!

This is perfectly composed, and I like the expanse of the bog you were able to capture. Oh and yes I still see a bit of Autumn color, really nice imagery my friend. Tigs=^..^=

I have been in and seen cranberry bogs in Wisconsin and in fact usually buy Wisconsin cranberries. I know Mass. has far more cranberry growers than second place Wisconsin and this shot is a good view of the process.

Really superb capture and composition, I've never seen one in person and looks like a lot of work gathering them in.

Tom - Add two guys in waders holding bottles of cranberry juice and you'd have an advertisement. You composed well the scene of the cranberry harvest.

The guys that I know that used to work the bogs in season would probably have gin in the juice. Most places still use small one man machines , something similar to a lawn mower , that pulls the berries loose to float them on top.
