Posted by request: I took this photo in our garden.. it's the one I made Fleeting Summer from. I wasn't sure how to crop it to make it suitable for a desktop… but perhaps it wasn't really suitable anyway, and I should have gone back down there and framed it differently. ;-) Also, there is very little that's in focus.

Camera: Canon 350D.
Lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II.

Edits: Processed the raw file in Photoshop to liven up the colours (the camera's own JPEG tends to look cool and 'dead' in comparison!) I wanted to bring out the pinks without destroying the sunlit green, so I had to do that using a layer mask. Maybe the green is too yellow and bright anyway?

PS Looking through my older image titles, I notice I have favourite words… 'Summer' is one and 'Fleeting' is another!

The colors are so lovely, but I think I would like to see a little more of the flower in focus, just my opinion. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I think the portrait presentation works well with your subject matter.

Colours and lighting look good good. Not too yellow and the contrasts are eye catching.

And I just read your response on your other image's page, "Fleeting Summer".

Silly that that border would get added in the process of using that filter/effect. Don't quite get the reasoning behind that one.

... ...

Oh, right.. why make mention of it?

Your landscape orientation of "Fleeting Summer" is good good, too. The two images side by side, don't look like they are the results of having come from one in the same.

Caveats?

Would agree with Sandi above. Just need to dial in the DOF/focus a tad more. And more so, to blur the background and give us something along "Fleeting Summer's" level of bokeh -ishness.

Or, conversely.. open it up and get everything in focus. As it is a pleasant scene to view. And your composition is strong here.

In a couple of words.. 'nice one'.
