This is late December in Southern Oregon on Steamboat Creek. You can see everything is covered with frost. This photo was taken early in the morning before the sun was up and it almost looks like a black and white photo, however, if you look closely you'll see patches of green on some of the rocks and the trees. The early morning light allowed me to use a long exposure to capture the smooth flow of the water.

Michael: I love the effect that long shutter speeds give to water and I use it quite frequently.
This example is very well done and by being about a 3/4 stop under exposed it gives a dark brooding feeling to the image.
10 by me.

Superbly strong and crisp image.....I love the composition and monochromatic look....The long exposure has worked wonders on the water and the frost has given it an amazing feel....Straight in to my favourites!....well done.

No doubt you have done a superb job. The freeze and the wet atmosphere is naturally captured by you. Great shot indeed.

I really like the contrast between the darker edges and the brighter centre in this. It creates a moody image with a wonderful atmosphere. I gave you a ten for it.

Kudos! This pic is great! The subdued blues with the white definitely give you the chills. Nice exposure for that soft look on the water. Keep it up!

Amazing quality and a fantastic composition!
One thing though, even if this turns out the best photo you have ever made, I do hope you will continue the good work and keep uploading, ha, ha!

What a great catch! Your shot of the water is fabulously done. I only wish the random tree branches on the left side weren't invading the seamlessness of the water blur. Wow!

How cool! This is amazing! It is nature in absolute perfection and you caught it beautifully! I love how it looks as if it may be a b&w but what a suprise to see it isn't when viewed full screen.

Guess it's my turn to point out the obvious, that is, how good this picture is. Very nice work indeed. The stillness of the whole scene, despite the moving water creates a frozen paradise worth loving. Nice work indeed.

All the decisions you made to get from nature to this final image worked REAL well! Whatever it was you did the effect is one of cold cold cold! That's real art, not just capturing "what's there" but somehow capturing the experience of being IN the scene as well. Awesome work. I'm jealous. lol.
