A recent cold snap has prompted the egrets to spread their soft, warm bodies and feathers over the newly hatched chicks to keep them safe.

A perfect composition! Like the tree trunk framing the side and the branch curving over the nest. Great capture of this mom and her babies! Wonderful clarity and color!

What I like most about this image is the poignant contrast of textures....the shaggy bark, the pointy nesting material, the soft feathers of the birds and the smooth fresh leaves. The colors are great too....the cool green and brown tones with the only warm color is her beak. Nicely done!!
