More a curiosity than anything. Wanted to see this weathered penny up close. BTW, If your so inclined, leave a thought. Any 'ol thought will do: an observation, a tip of the day, a joke, gibberish, anything! Take care!.
I dare say, I think my thoughts to be worth far more than a penny, but that's inflation for you. Even my 2 cents is often found to be worthless. You didn't even use a brand new penny. I guess they have less character than a used one. I like the detail in your fine macro.

My thought is that I like this shot a lot! This is a fairly new coin and so a lot of the detail is still present. I wish I knew more about pennies... I think the "D" stands for the Denver mint. I think this penny is mostly zinc with a copper coating. I don't know what the "9" beside Lincoln's tie means, and it seems that something is embossed on the lower left of the bottom curve. I'm glad you decided to shoot this one!
I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God. - Abraham Lincoln
I'm thinking a penny doesn't buy you much anymore. Would you stoop to pick one up off the sidewalk? Don't you hate that awful taste they leave on your fingertips after handling a bunch of them? Does anyone still flatten them on railroad tracks? How much does it cost to mint a penny and is it worth it? Good work.
