I really cannot decide if I like this one or not, I like the position of the butterfly, but I just think the background is too busy. I thought I would put it up to see what you all thought, be harsh.

You can create less of a dof by using a larger aperture, like f2.8 or f4.0- or f5.0 or f5.6 unless you use a point and shoot camera, then I'm not sure, but you could set it to macro mode and it will help distort the background more and show up the subject. The colors are very pretty.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

There's a few things going on with this photo. The butterfly is facing away from the camera which isn't necessarily bad but photos generally tend to be better with the subject facing the camera. The dof is extremely narrow which blurs all the flowers in the background nicely, however, now the subject is not completely in focus, which again isn't a bad thing, however now only the back end of the butterfly is in focus. Did you mean for it to moon us? :) And I realize this last point is mostly out of your control, but the lighting conditions have caused the white flower that the butterfly is on to become overexposed and blown out, thus competeing for attention with the butterfly.

Upon first viewing the image I thought the butterflies wings were too close to vertical, but having looked at it again, I'm not so sure I would agree with that statement now. Interesting how your opinion changes after you've seen something more than once.

The natural background colors seem so edible. I wounld'nt loose any sleep if the Butterfly and white flowers were gone! and then? it won't seem so busy!

I LIKE IT! and this one comes home, Thank you :)
