This was taken from the lanai (balcony) of the condo we rented while back home to visit my bro. I ask myself daily how I could ever have moved away from such beauty (and still don't have an answer). The condo was in Kihei, to the right (where this image was taken) was Lahaina, with Lanai and Moloka'i off in the distance. To the left of this shot, is Molokini (an atoll with great snorkeling) and Kaho'olawe. This was taken with my camera phone, so please excuse any graininess. Enjoy. PS= the tree the sun is poking through is called a MonkeyPod tree, and grows a fantastic canopy I would kill for here in the Fresno heat. MonkeyPods are often mistaken for Banyon trees which are also found in the Islands.

I really loved the commentary you wrote to go with this pic. It's too bad you didn't have your other equipment with you. I'd love to go there and visit :)

well I can certainly imagine just how wonderful it was there by your description and glad you managed to capture a photograph to remember it by. The image itself is a bit grainy as you say and the sun too strong, but at least we can share some of your experience!

I agree with the others that the quality isn't the best, but that truly is not what makes a good photo. Composition is what is most important to me, and you have done an excellent job. Nothing distracting is captured, and the sun (however over-powering) works beautifully shining through the tree. The clouds and trees are just gorgeous. Thank you for a glimpse of this beautiful scene. I'm certain it was amazing to view in real life!

Thanks guys. I had planned on bringing my camera, even set it out to be packed...got to Maui...no camera. Called the hubby, he said it was sitting right where I left it! So while not as clear, I am thankful for my camera-phone, or I wouldn't have been able to capture any of it!!
