You've got a good concept overall here, but there are a couple of things that stand out which are keeping it from being fulfilled.
1) The fencing in the background - most people like to see images of animals in their natural habitat, and while this mimics that habitat the fencing automatically gives away that it's still a cage. As there's nothing back there of interest, cropping it out will help you alot.
2) As the person above me said, there's no real defined subject due to 2 reasons - one is that there's alot of greenery on the left side of the image, and the other is that the focal point isn't quite on the alligators. The wealth of greenery would drop back a bit more if you make sure it's the alligators that are in focus above everything else. You could even try playing with the DOF (depth of field) to really pull out that focus.
Otherwise, you've got some good color and contrast here once you work on the composition.
I agree with the folks above. The focus is more on the greenery in front rather than on those feisty little guys on the log. I'd love to see another shot as the colors and contrast are very nice. :o)
