Susan, as this is a close-up, it's very hard to get more details in focus. It depends on your camera as well. If you have a camera with a manual setting possibilty, you have to choose, as far as possible, for a slower shutter speed (requires sometimes a tripod then). You aperture will then be increased, creating a higher DOF. You can select a higher aperture value as well, your shutter opening time however will be longer then, but the effect on the DOF is the same.
Please give it a try, as I think you have good photographic skills!
