Wow. My father had to help clean up Dachau when he was serving in the army back during WWII and after. Makes you shiver and quiver thinking about it. Very nice shot, and very stirring, also.
This is a very emotional shot, and it fits the black-and-white treatment perfectly. Some people forget (or never knew) that Catholics and Gypsies, as well as Jews, perished in the Holocaust. The setting is bleak and utilitarian and would evoke something like Dachau even if you hadn't identified it as such. I like it. It shows the sober side of Christmas, what it can mean to be a Christian.
Ami, hi. You are someone with a lot of respect. Like ihis about you my friend. I ve been in Holland once in Westerbork, Drenthe and the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. To give respect too. At home I have a lot of dvd´s about the terrible thing happened in those years. Some stories are so emotional... Very very good Ami!
You took me down memory lane. I went their in the early 80s. You did this shot very tactfullyy. You did really well on your first b&w. Great lighting for it.
