I need some help from my Caedes friends on the type of bird this is! He flew out of the marshes and I stalked him to the lake and got a long shot~is it a type of bittern?

He is without doubt a fishing bird. Looks very good sitting there on the rocks and with the water beyond. Nice post Ami.

A great shot of the Heron in the rocks Ami. I usually look on this website for BIRDS if i'm not sure what they are. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it don't. Great post, Saved

He does look like the green heron~but I was unsure because he was small(about the size of a large crow) and doesn't have a long neck. Maybe a youngster?

What a pose you captured Ami. I think it is the rare Dwarf Heron. You are supposed to make three wishes when you see them. If you catch one, rub on it and the momma will appear. There will be hell to pay.
This is soooooooooo good.
Had to fave.

He is a green heron, though I have always wondered why it is called "green" when there is very little green on it.
Love the title.

It is interesting to see him in a different environment. Very nice textures of rock and water. Definitely IS a Green Heron , I think the lighting brings out the colors differently. Thank you for sharing him.
