hi there. I saw this image of yours and decided to stop in to share a couple of thoughts with you.
I know that "conventional wisdom" tells us, when composing a shot, to fill the frame, and not have too much excess space or background around a subject. here though, I believe that the crop might've been more dramatic if it had been considerably wider. if the opportunity presents itself, try a much wider shot, with the lone feather placed either in the lower far right, or far left corner. now it's "alone". see?
one more thing, and that's a slight correction I hope you don't mind. this shot would actually be considered a close-up, not a macro. a macro is generally far more extreme, almost "microscopic" if you will. try wandering through the macro gallery, and perhaps you'll see some examples that'll (sorry for the pun) illustrate the difference.
Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.
Nice sharp details on the feather! Well captured Ami - I also like your idea of taking a photo of the feather. I wouldn't have thought of it and would have kicked it aside!
Cool capture.....Have to agree....puttin ghte feather father out with more background would really give it a sence of "alone"....But this is a beautiful piece of work. On my DT for a bit.
