Hello Apofix,
This photo makes me curious. The darkness makes it hard for me to know exactly what I am looking at but there is just enough light for me to know I am looking at some kind of statue of a very big fish. The light reflecting up thru the water is something worth photographing and the effect this light has on the statue is also interesting and worthy of a photo capture, the statue also looks pretty interesting but the overall photo needs more light. It may also be that shooting from a different angle rather than directly at the fish's head, would increase the interest in the image. Another thought, maybe it would be more powerful in black and white?
Just my ideas, all could be worthless. :)
Peace,
Mikel.
Third on the different angle. I can't tell that it's a fish or a fishing boat?
I would also play around with your F-Stop and maybe a tripod to remove some of the graininess in the background. Perhaps look at doing a long exposure if possible.
But the composition is pretty good. The light from below adds to the power of the picture so good instincts on capturing that.
