The subject is interesting and the image certainly focuses in on just the subject, nothing to distract the eye. I get the feeling you were focussing on the old woodwork and it's tired quality, another good idea. The photo seems to lack colour or intensity somehow. Perhaps if you cropped the roof out completely and focussed even further on the veranda woodwork, that would lift the image a lot. Just a thought.

Not all beauty is obvious.
The setting is good and for my taste only it(he,she) would give him(her) to the major image contrast to highlight a bit more the texture of the wood. Good work.
