I think the composition feels a little awkward because the top of the post is cut off, and the little bit of post top right draw the eye away from the subject. perhaps a little wider and aimed a little left would have worked better, but then I was not there and for all I know there might be an unsightly oil refinery just out of shot, which is what usually happens with me. I like the feel to this picture, the different textures work well in B&W. It has a nice calm quiet appeal. I like it.

could be a sad story, but also not, it is very inviting to think about.....at least you invite, i like it, like the BW with the water...
