This combination works really well, the strong geometric shapes of the cannon against the natural shapes and lines in the background. The mist adds lots of atmosphere too. It's slightly blurred at full size but that doesn't diminish the strong composition.

This is great, I love big things that go bang. This photo has a particular eerie silence to it, an expectation that something nasty is going to happen. The lighting and tones of this photo work fabulously to give this impression. Thanks for sharing.

Nice composition here. It is a little blurry as mentioned above, on a foggy/overcast day like this one you probably would need to use a tripod to get crisp detail.
