Don't you just hate it when the moss starts to pick up smoking? I know I do. This is some of the coal smoke coming up out of the ground from the coal fires that are still burning under Centralia, Pa. The fires have been calmed down over the years, but the town is still unlivable.

A nice post with good earth tones Adrienne. The coal and the mining bring to mind this grim reminder of how dangerous mining can be. I like this post. It is like a memorial to the miners.

I love this picture with the mist coming out of the earth, these really looked very beautiful. Focus eat very good and our eyes are focused directly on the fog. VERY well done

Like it..We have the same on the disused colliery tips..Eventually when it burns out it leaves a material called red shale..Used as bedding for highways..R.

About five years ago we went out around this area and I had never heard of these underground coal fires. But you cannot mistake that smell in the air and smoke coming out of the ground! It looks as if the moss likes it. Love the shot Adrienne!
