Built by Louis XIV as a hospital & resting home for elderly invalid soldiers, this structure is truly amazing. I only hope the pic can help convey the feeling of how immense this beautiful building truly is - so large yet incredible in its detail and glamour - so Parisian! And to top it off (literally) the top dome area is completely covered in gold (was just refurbed recently) - WOW does that thing shine in the sun!!!

First of all, thank you for the background info. - it makes a picture more interesting when you know a little something about it. I would like to see some close up shots of some of the artistic details of this building, which I can see is a very interesting subject.

What a neat building, I bet I could spend more than a day checking it out. It is a nice photo, but I really think it would need to be quite large to do the building any justice.
