I'd say it's a Killdeer (or a type of Plover) as they have rather long legs & a thick ring around their neck. They nest in my lawn during the summer months. Excellent capture, Frank ... the DOF is wonderful too.
I saw a Killdeer do the "fake broken wing" once to lead us away from its nest. The Killdeer has a double band as opposed to the single band of the Plover.
Anyway, the lighting is great and this is a wonderful capture!

A super capture of it, I believe they are also called Sandpipers. My neighbor had one that made a nest in the rocks by their barn, and would do the weirdest things to lead you away from the nest. =^..^=tigs♥
