The Star-Spangled Banner is an American Icon that has spanned the years since The American Revolution . It was first commissioned so many years ago and has waved proudly ever since. Though our country has come under severe attacks it still waves. We are proud of it and what it symbolizes: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It has changed some since the first flag but basically the design remains. The last state Hawaii, making 50 stars on our flag, joined in Aug. 21, 1959.
