Given the response to Bunks, I thought I would share this one with you. It was taken overlooking the railway tracks in Auschwitz-Birkenau. One side of the tracks led directly to the gas chambers, the other to slave labour. The flowers and notes are symbolic reminders that we should never forget.

Without your narrative the image was puzzling. After reading the narrative ... the image became searing and dramatic photography beyond compare. Well done and Yes!! ... May we NEVER forget such a lapse in humanity.

Just an old "Grampa" who still has a Kodak "Box" camera kicking around the attic ... learning and enjoying the wonders of modern digital photography.

Whoa. Very heavy my friend. Indeed this was a time in history where it is embarassing to be a human. That we are capable of such horrors. That it happens even now dumbfounds me.

Wow. Reminds me of the scene in Schindler's List where girl in red coat is only thing in color. Tragic, but beautiful reminder of just how horrible they were treated. We should never forget.

Good shot. I like your pictures with meaning behind them. Reminds me of the reality that humans are capable of true evil.

Absolutely beautiful and poignant. Prior to reading your description, I thought it may have been the site of a suicide - the reality of it is just as sad. As always, thank you for sharing!
