I have to comment that this is a very good people portrait. I don't know a thing about the religious lives of the Indian people, but he certainly looks absorbed in what he's doing and you've composed this very well.

I like the way the columns of the temple figure prominently in the photo and the subject is not "front and center." Excellent portrait with a really interesting composition.
I love the way you put the big column right in front and let the viewer's eye wander left to more columns and then the priest with his colorful clothing.
At first I didn't like the spot of bright light, thinking it was a distraction from the study of the priest...so I tried to imagine the picture without it. By the time I had achieved that, I liked the spot of light! The very fact that it DOES distract from the priest affords him a bit of privacy, and makes the viewer feel less intrusive.
