Doreen was dropped at the hairdressers and i had an hour to kill,So i took a walk around my city,Which i haven't done for a long time.I spotted this piper playingThe green field of France. It brought a tear to this old softies eye.Thinking of friends i had lost serving in the forces.Everyone hurrying about on their business,On there mobiles, reading their papers. No one stopped to put any money in this vagrants box and he played beautifully..Maybe his story was one of being a member of an orchestra,He played that well.Who knows why he fell on hard times.Could have been one of many things..We don't pay enough attention to people in this hustle and bustle world. As i dropped a coin in his box,He nodded his thanks and i walked on and out of his life...R

Amen to that Richie, nobody's THAT busy not to take a few momments to enjoy people, life, and the sights and sounds of just plain living in general. Such a shame really. Very nice post along with a story I hope we all took the time to read. :) John

Here's a 'serious' side to Richie that I enjoy seeing peek out now and then. A very expressive photo. Sometimes even our closest friends go thru 'tough' times, so being aware is so important in the lives of those we care about, whether they are friends or strangers. I cried when I saw this lonely man. Feeling lonely myself at times. Wishing I could help help others more often. I wish I heard music such as his must have been, more often, in my life. By the way, the music is very tearful and makes one think beyond their own problems. Outstanding photo. Verena

Brought a tear to my eye as well Count B. I had never heard the song I could imagine this man playing it as I listened. We don't realize how good we have it until we lose it. I recognized some lines from The Streets of Laredo in the song. Beautiful post and you are right we all need to listen more then we do.

Such a sad song, I have never heard it before.
A great photo of the piper. Its sad that people just don't take the time to stop and listen.

Hey Richie
I saw this in VB and had to score it high! I immediately felt a soft spot for this guy.It makes you wonder about his life story and how he ended up at where he is now. Very nice shop of this gentleman and his flute.

A very interesting picture and story behind. I also like the backlight effect on the man's head.

A great human nature shot my friend and it is a beautiful soulful song. It made me think of fallen commrades as well. Perfect lighting and a great subject as well.
