Allso known as a workover rig. This one is setting over a newly drilled well. Probrably a natural gas well. For some reason they are not paying much attention to the oil any more. This is the type of rig that goes to the well when it is newly drilled to finish bringing it in or they go to the well when something breaks down on it. That pipe standing in the derick is what is put into the casing which is the big pipe in the hole and then if it is oil and not flowing naturaly they put the pump jack in and the rods go through the tubing to a pump at the bottom. Needless to say this is very dangerous work. This pipe that is going into the ground can have as much as 2000 pounds of pressure behind it. How do I know so much about this type of work. I grew up in it and I worked in it for a few years myself. I hope you all enjoy this one.
