This was the scene behind the building I was working at in Colorado. The low light was a challenge and I think I did ok. Tell me what you think. By the way. That is the way the land really angles so I left it alone.
Billy, you captured the stormy sky perfectly. The sunlight peeking through the clouds tells me there's a glimmer hope .... from the storm at least. Nice lead in with the road too. Fantastic capture.
My initial reaction was that this was left leaning, but I can see that the road is headed up a hill and that the horizon goes every which way. Excellent title. I used to say, "I love weather" which is a rather stupid thing to say since even our daily routine of no rain, no clouds, and no temperature variations still counts as weather. I've often thought that the easiest job in the world must be the local weatherman here on the NBC affiliate. He could easily tape his routine and play it for 120 nights in a row and nobody would notice. And while I'm on the subject, taking a kid's temperature with a thermometer and then having someone ask, "Does he have a temperature?" is just as stupid. Even a dead person has a temperature. It's probably room temperature, but it's a temperature. 98.6°F is a valid temperature.
Oh!! Your picture!! I knew I was here for a reason. Sometimes photos are all about choices. Staying on one side of the gate and fence was a good choice and adds plenty of interest and depth to the shot. I probably would have climbed up on the fence, avoided the road and ended up with a dull shot of some clouds and mountains. More likely still I would have snapped off the shot as I was falling off the fence and ended up with a blurry shot of just the clouds. Very good choice and a wonderful photo. I like everything about it. This will do well in the VB.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
An excellent composition. The contrasts of the red desolate land with the blue mountains and cloud swept sky are visually pleasing. I too like the road and fence giving scale and dimension. Very nice work!
Hello Billy...The light, composition, and the lovely scenery combine well to make a very appealing image....Well done....All the very best to you Billy........Mick.
