I think the settlers had a unique way of naming things BTK. There is a Lizard Head Pass in Colorado, a Big Hole Pass in Montana, Hogback Summit in Oregon, Bald Mountain Pass in Utah and a Dead Indian Pass in Wyoming. They passed on the Skitzo Pass in California.

Thank you, Billy. At least I understand now why they named it "Rabbit Ears Pass". I agree with you that I'm not really reminded of Bugs Bunny when I see the rocks, but the people who traveled through here in the 1800's were probably exhausted and somewhat confused by the time they made it this far.

The sky suits the shot beautifully. Everything just looks very chilly. Once again I love the verticals in all of those conifer trees. There are some interesting changes in the tonal qualities as you move up the grade. The rock outcropping at the top is quite a contrast in colors from everything else in the area and is probably visible for many miles. Once again you've posted another beauty of a landscape.

P.S. I should probably remind TicK that us paranoid schizophrenics can sometimes get weird cravings. Dorothy in particular gets a taste for man flesh. She wants me to invite TicK to meet her at the Donner Pass in the Sierras.

I'm glad you shared this one with us, and kind of see why they named it. I like the color changes, and contrasts within this one, the tones seem a bit different, which might be from the lighting. THe sky is beautiful and completes this very nicely.

Marvelous capture and if you use your vivid imagination it does look like rabbit ears, but a little square. It could be also a giant slingshot, lol.
