This was taken the same day as the low water shots. It is hard to tell here but this is an area where the Washita River had gotten out of its banks. This spot is about 30 feet from the river and was still muddy. I love the Oklahoma red dirt. It makes for great captures.

Hi, Billy....

Looks like Rob liked your shot so much that he wrote his comment twice. I remember two things about Oklahoma: the red earth and the fact that a highway patrolman let us off without giving us a ticket. My wife was driving around 90 mph when she spotted the patrol car in the median. She immediately slammed on the brakes which nearly caused a wreck. The patrolman might not have noticed us if not for the tires screeching. In California you don't get stopped without getting a ticket; so we were sure we were in for it. He flipped on his lights and siren and my wife pulled over. When he simply asked us to slow down and enjoy Oklahoma, we were astonished. I took over the driving after that stop.

I've been following your commentary as you've talked about the severe drought. In this shot you mentioned the overflowing river, and the mud looks pretty bad. I guess one big rain doesn't end a drought.

Anyway, I love this shot. I'm really happy that you seem to have abandoned the idea of dropping in those fake skies. Your editing is seamless and very natural. The thing that caught my eye was the ivy growing up the tree. I don't think I've ever seen that before. The shot's a beauty, Billy.

There is such a unique quality to this image, I can't quite pinpoint it. I'm not sure what kind of post processing you do but it looks fantastic :)
