This was taken at the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center. Many beutiful animals from the area. I caught site of this poor little guy and felt so bad for him because he was the only one that looked sad. I wanted to open his cage and let him go.

Gee, that looks like a really shallow cage, with barely room to turn around. Perhaps I'm seeing it wrong.

Cute little varmint. Is that a fox? I'm not sure. I'd want out of that cage too, if that's all the bigger it was. Nice picture.

Very sad looking fella and I sure don't blame him. I do hope the cage is bigger than it looks. Good capture but I find it depressing. Such a beautiful animal. Sandi♥

I can see why you wanted to shoot this image. He looks pretty dismal. When I shoot images of cages, though I've found it useful to do two things. 1) I emphasize the bars by using black and white which is sadly not popular at Caedes.net. Black and white brings out shapes and edges better than color. It also detracts from the rich colors of wildlife which though beautiful, detracts from the message you're trying to portray. 2) I use a shallow depth of field - again to emphasize the bars and the poor culprit - nose against the bars - pining for freedom.

I don't want to sound too negative though. You found an excellent subject, and you caught him at a moment of true expression.

What a life. :-( Going to the zoo reminds me of a Calvin & Hobbes comic where Calvin is excited to go to the zoo and wants Hobbes to come as well...to which Hobbes asks if later they can go tour a prison. Poor little fella - great capture, if of a sad life.

As I'm quite a novice, I typically have no advise - but I know what I like!
