In this 'room' the old Pummerin was hanging from 1711 till 1945.
The Old Pummerin was destroyed in a fire caused by looters of near-by shops at the end of World War II, when its wooden cradle burned through and the bell crashed onto the stone floor of the south tower on April 12, 1945.
Now the new Pummerin is housed in the North Tower.

Chris, your image and your narrative (including the links) offer a lot of very interesting information. Thanks for that. Think your image 'catches' the proper atmosphere. Very well done. Regards, Cornelius

This gives you a good view of what the interior looks like, and indeed it shows to be very old. Regarding chruch bells, we lost a real lot of them as well, the Germans had a habbit of melting them down, they could use the bronze in the war effort, nevermind they dated back hundreds of years. Thanks for the good view inside.

Thanks for all the background information, that makes this shot almost come to life!
I agree with the others that this shot definitely has it's own mood. It could be a scene from one off those medieval movies!

This has such an aura of mystery about it... and it reminds me a little of M.C. Escher.
