Escalator to Vienna's subway station Stephansplatz (U1).
In lack of some better shots (so far) I decided to post this one for the contest as my first entry.
Taken on a Friday afternoon after work, shortly after the announcement of the contest.

Wonderful submission...I like the sense of motion and how you kept everything b/w except the one figure in the foreground...this should do well...good luck.

Wow!! Contest or not, this is a powerful image on its own. Love how you cropped in on this image. Great sense of speed and the need for one's own space in an increasingly crowded environment. This is a rare 10/10 from me. Well done!

The tunnelling effect is the outstanding quality of this upload Chris
The blurred monochrome pedestrians seem to melt into ghostly spirits top left of the escalator while the solitary gent at the top of the central escalator seems to be the only one left alive !!
