A close-up of one of the one hundred statues of a naked 6ft 2in cast-iron man placed over an area of 3km by 1km of Crosby Beach at the mouth of The River Mersey that go to make up "Another Place" by Antony Gormley.
A nice closeup of the Sculpture. I'm wondering if they are 6'2" and they weight in at 650 kilograms (1433.3 pounds). Why don't they sink into the sand??.
A nice post
Anthony Gormley has been exhibiting sculpture since the 70's. & I've taken a look at his online gallery. It seems he's experienced hardship in his early life, & all his art reflects this. I haven't seen anything slightly comforting produced by him yet.
However I personally feel his art reflects the decay of Western life in this so called civilised society.
Amazing sculpture and I agree with Phil...there is something very sobering about the expression on the face of this one...it should make us all stop and wonder over...great capture and thanks for sharing.

I still think a little sunscreen could help this poor chap!! HeheHahaHoho!! Neat sculpture sir!!
What a great shot! How melancholic does he look? Do they all have the same expression? This really must be a sight to see. Poor guy does look as though he has taken a hit in the head with some uv rays though.
Talk about your cloning. Has anyone ever watched them all night to make sure they don't move around. I think they are real. Of course I have seen UFO's as well and I like the X Files. I really like this too. Hope that doesn't make you feel nervous Steve.
Looks a bit gruesome doesn't it, with the red rust and the texture of the metal? Well emphasised with the selective colour Steve, this is very creative.
A nice post
