Ask anybody in the northern half of The Wirral Peninsular, Merseyside for directions to The Wheatsheaf at Raby and most likely they won't know where you are talking about. But, call it The Thatch and they'll tell you straight away. The Thatch has been a pub since at least 1611 and probably much longer and is here shown all set for summer.

Big brother's watching you :o) A mistreated dog should try to leave a deposit on their masters best carpet, after all it's important to establish who's boss ... Welcome to the last resort. :o)

I love these thatched buildings!....I saw loads on the Isle of Wight!....Amazing how weather proof and watertight they are too.

A great picture pal!

Now that is what I called a proper country pub. The Morris dancers are probably just around the corner!! This is a lovely capture of this oldie worldie building, and those hanging baskets really add colour. Well done!

I see a picture in a picture in a picture. I wonder why they have a picture of the pub on the front of the pub. Interesting. Super shot. I wouldn't mind visiting this place for a cold one. Nice capture, Steve.

Love this photo! Did you have to do some editing work to get the vertical lines to be vertical, or did you have a vantage point and lens that avoided the inward leaning so often seen?

Wash't there a Prime Minister named Thatch? lol Great shot Steve and the flowers make it look like a home. I suppose in a way it is a home to many. Love the cobblestone. Good colorful post. Taverns do that to me.

It really does look comfortable and cozy. I'd certainly pop in there for a diet coke if I was in the area! Nicely observed Steve.
